There seems to be increasing discussion in the media and the world of blogs about problems among the Calvary Chapels. Most of the critics of Calvary Chapels, including the sympathetic-to-Calvary critics, say that the CC clergymen do not have enough accountability.

I agree. Except usually the critic is recommending an external, denominational-style accountability.

My recommendation is to see what kind of accountability the New Testament teaches.

What leads the majority of these critics to recommend denominational-style accountability is that CC clergymen are not truly accountable to the brothers in their assemblies who should be considered their fellow elders. These critics have been conditioned to think that’s the way it’s suppose to be so the only solution they can think of is denominational.

These critics are not helping!

It is not a trans-local, extra-biblical, bureaucratic hierarchy these brothers and these fellowships need. What could turn each mess into an edifying blessing is the New Testament pattern of true elders who truly serve with the Lord Jesus as Pastor.
