This post is part of my commentary on the series, “A History of Anti-Christ“, by the late Albert James Dager. See Part XL – The 1980s

I’m grateful to live in the United States of America. I thank God from whom all blessings flow. And yet I am called to follow Jesus and to be a part of His Body on earth no matter which country I’m living in.

Sometimes Al Dager ascribes a special place for the United States of America that is not supported by the Bible.

Biblically, I don’t think that America is any more special to God than Uruguay or Cambodia.

In Old Testament times God chose to work through His people, Israel. Since Pentecost God has chosen to work through His people, the Church. God will one day restore His relationship with Israel.

It is my understanding that we are in the time of the fourth beast according to Daniel 7. The fourth beast is the empire that follows the Greek empire. I believe the fourth beast to be the Roman Empire. This is the empire under whose authority Messiah was crucified. This empire still exists when Jesus returns. I believe America is a province of this fourth beast.

America is one of the gentile nations, one of the pagan nations. I believe it is wrong to see America as a special force for good ordained by God. God works His purposes through the United States, but only in the same way He works His purposes through, and in spite of, every worldly nation. Seeing America as special to God is advocated by some Freemasons and by Mormons. I recommend against this for Evangelical Christians.
