January 6th was a violent attempt to keep a man in power, contrary to the U.S. constitution.

It’s important to me to say this to my fellow followers of Jesus: I don’t think the 2020 U.S. presidential election was any more corrupt than the 2016 election.

Ambassadors for Christ don’t join the mobs.

Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews [Jewish religious leaders]; but now My kingdom is not from here.” John 18:36

If we’re called to be in the world but not of the world, why do many of us so readily identify with one of the worldly factions?

We are not called to fight the anti-Christ. There is nothing in the New Testament that tells us to fight the anti-Christ. Love the truth. Do not be deceived. Warn others.

We are not called to take over the world for Jesus. The New Testament does not call us to conquer nations or people. We are called to persuade and not coerce.

We are not called to fight culture wars. There is nothing in the New Testament that calls us to try to get pagans to live by the Bible. The best that can do is to create white-washed tombs filled with dead men’s bones.

An authoritarian man on a white horse is not our hope. But neither is an all controlling, all pervasive government. Followers of Jesus should not promote either, but we should pray for whoever is in power that we can live out the Gospel in peace and be about our Father’s business.

“For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, And hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water.”
Jeremiah 2:13

The greatest evil in our day is not the oppression of Christians by the government or the socialists or the Marxists. The greatest evil is the deception within the Church that causes us to exchange our heavenly priorities for nationalistic patriotism.

The church has been politicized and that is a great deception.
“I’m with the Pharisees!”
“I’m with the Sadducees!”
“I’m with Barabbas!”
“I’m with Caesar!”

Consider Joseph in Egypt (Genesis 37-50) or Daniel in Babylon and Persia (Daniel 1-12).

“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.” Colossians 3

Notice the fasces on the left and right of the podium of the House of Representatives. Then consider Daniel chapter 7.

Proclaim the truth to whoever will listen and leave the results in God’s hands.
